Curious to know how your favourite Urban Goddess piece is made?
We are a slow fashion brand and release just two main collections each year, in timeless colours that are easy to mix and match with pieces from previous collections.
All our designs are lovingly created by our founder, Marlene, in close collaboration with our long-term production partners.
The process starts with organic cotton and/or Tanboocel fibres, which are woven into fabric. Each batch of fabric is carefully checked for quality before moving on to the dyeing process.
We only use GOTS-certified dyed fabrics, ensuring that no harmful chemicals end up in our products. After dyeing, the fabric is thoroughly checked again before being turned into leggings, tops and other yoga essentials.

GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON
For us, yoga & activewear is all about connection. With yourself, your body and the world around you. That’s why we consciously choose GOTS-certified organic cotton.
No pesticides, no harmful substances, just breathable comfort that’s kind to your skin. This natural fibre feels wonderfully soft and stays beautiful, wash after wash.
OEKO-TEX STEP BAMBOO
Bamboo grows incredibly fast, requires very little water or care and is naturally antibacterial. The lovely dry-fit fabric feels cool, smooth and silky soft. Perfect even for the most sensitive skin.
Not all bamboo on the market is the same, just like with cotton. That’s why we use a closed-loop bamboo fibre that is OEKO-TEX STeP certified. This means no harmful substances are released into the environment.
LYOCELL
Lyocell is made from wood and produced in an environmentally friendly closed-loop system. The result is a luxurious, breathable fabric that moves softly with you while being strong enough for every yoga, Pilates or gym practice.
Lyocell feels refined and lightweight, almost like a second skin. It can offer the same feel and benefits as polyester, without the toxic downsides associated with this material, which is so commonly used in yoga and fitness clothing.

LESS WATER, MORE AWARENESS
Did you know that producing an Urban Goddess item requires an average of 1,000 litres of water? That may sound like a lot, but it’s half the amount needed for a comparable non-organic product.
The difference comes from our organically certified materials and avoiding water-intensive, chemical processes. Because what you don’t see matters too.
We’ve been working for years to reduce our ecological footprint. Our biggest milestone came in 2021, when our production partner fully switched to solar energy. Since then, the CO₂ emissions from our clothing production have decreased by an impressive 97.5%.

UNITED REPAIR CENTRE
At Urban Goddess, we believe in slow fashion: yoga and activewear that is made with care and designed to last. Still, things can sometimes go wrong. A loose seam, a stain, or a returned item that’s just not fresh enough to be sold again.
Instead of throwing these products away, we give them a second life. We do this together with the United Repair Centre (URC).
BYEWASTE
Sometimes a piece of clothing is truly at the end of its life. But what then? Throw it away? Nope. We work together with Byewaste, an initiative that collects textiles responsibly.
Anything that can still be worn gets a second life. Items that really can’t be reused are processed in a way that has as little impact as possible. That way, even the end of a garment can remain part of a positive cycle.
RETURNLESS PLATFORM
Online shopping is convenient, but returns have a significant impact on the environment. That’s why we work with the Returnless platform.
Through a smart system, we ask you a few short questions before you return an item. This sometimes allows us to help you right away and prevent unnecessary returns. Less transport, less waste, less hassle.
GOTS-GECERTIFICEERD
Since May 2023, we have been officially GOTS-certified as a brand. This means that not only our fabrics, but our entire production chain is checked for social and environmental impact.

PETA-APPROVED
Animals are not ours. We have no right to use them for experimentation, food, clothing, entertainment or in any other way that causes them harm. That’s what PETA stands for.
Because we follow the yogic principle of “Ahimsa”, we live with respect for all living beings and choose not to cause them harm. That’s why we have decided never to use animal-derived materials in Urban Goddess products.
