Flared and wide-leg yoga pants combine freedom of movement with an easy, feminine look. Wear them for yoga or Pilates, then style them with your everyday wardrobe when you leave the studio.
Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, flared and wide-leg pants have two different fits. Flared yoga pants fit closely around the hips and thighs before widening from the knee. Wide-leg yoga pants fall loosely from the hips, giving you more room throughout the entire leg.
Which style is right for you? In this guide, we compare the fits, waistbands, fabrics and lengths of our flared and wide-leg yoga pants.
Flared or wide leg: what is the difference?
Flared yoga pants, also known as flared leggings, have the fitted feel of a yoga legging around the waist, hips and upper legs. The leg gradually flares out from approximately the knee. This creates a streamlined, feminine shape while still allowing you to move freely.
Wide-leg yoga pants have a looser fit from the hips down. They feel airy and relaxed, making them ideal for gentle yoga, meditation, loungewear and off-the-mat outfits.
Choose a flare when you like a close fit and a more defined shape. Choose a wide leg when you want extra room and a relaxed feel.
Our flared and wide-leg pants are made with soft natural fibres and stretch for comfortable movement. Depending on the style, you can choose organic cotton, bamboo or lyocell blends. Every Urban Goddess style is certified according to the GOTS or OCS standard applicable to its material composition.

Which yoga pants should you choose?
Your perfect pair depends on how fitted or relaxed you want your pants to feel.
How should flared yoga pants fit?
Flared yoga pants should fit closely around your waist, hips and upper legs without digging in. The flare should begin around the knee and fall freely towards the floor.
Length is particularly important. Ideally, the hem should almost reach the floor when you are wearing your intended shoes, without dragging underneath your feet. If you mainly wear your pants barefoot for yoga or Pilates, choose a length that lets you move safely and keeps the hem clear of the floor.
How should wide-leg yoga pants fit?
Wide-leg pants should fall loosely from the hips without pulling across the seat or upper legs. The waistband should feel secure but comfortable, while the fabric should have enough room to move freely around your legs.
Because these styles contain more fabric, getting the length right is essential. Check the inseam of each style and compare it with a pair of pants you already own.
If you are between sizes and prefer a more fitted look around the waist and hips, choose the smaller size. For a softer, more relaxed fit, choose the larger size. Always check the measurements and fabric composition of the individual style before deciding.
From yoga studio to everyday life
Flared and wide-leg yoga pants offer the comfort and flexibility of activewear but feel polished enough for the rest of your day.
Pair your flared pants with a fitted top or yoga bra to balance the shape. With wide-leg pants, a close-fitting or slightly cropped top defines the waist and keeps the look balanced. Add a soft longsleeve, cardigan or structured jacket when you leave the studio.
From fitted and supportive to soft and flowing, there is an Urban Goddess style for every body, practice and personal style.
