What is Satya?

At Urban Goddess we name all our styles after concepts derived from the yoga tradition. As such, these Poweryoga leggings that are inspired by the word Satya. A Sanskrit term that is not easy to translate. It means something like purity, truth or honesty and is referenced in the yoga sutras of Patanjali. In this important yoga scripture, yamas are described, a number of guidelines that can be compared to the ten commandments. In your own life you can apply satya by never fooling yourself. Living your own truth is what the concept stands for. In your yoga practice this principle can come in handy too. By practicing yoga with an honest and compassionate attitude towards yourself, you don’t run the risk of getting injured because you push your own limits.
