What is Satya?

The Sanskrit word satya is the inspiration for this style of leggings in our collection. Although the meaning is difficult to capture in just one word, satya can be translated as purity, honesty or truth. In Patanjali’s yoga sutras, an important scripture in yoga philosophy, yamas are described. These guidelines are similar to the ten commandments in Christianity. Satya is the second yama. It refers to a principle you can always apply in your own life. For example, by not lying to yourself or others. Your yoga practice can also benefit from applying this rule. For example, considering how far you want to take your practice with an honest attitude towards yourself. That way you won’t overstretch because you want to imitate your neighbour.
